Ready Made Frame Sale!!

Have we got a deal for you. We have accumulated a large number of ready made frames, in a variety of different mouldings, that are just taking up room we don’t have. So, we will be selling them out at bargain basement prices.
They are complete frames, and I will single mat them to fit the picture they are intended for, with stock mats. This is the list of sizes. Most of them are odd sizes which will make them perfect for the picture that doesn’t fit well in the standard frames you get at the store. And the price is right! $20 for the majority, $30 for the largest ones. First come, first served. What a perfect, inexpensive Christmas present that doesn’t look inexpensive! They can be upgrades with fabric mats, plates, or engraving for an additional fee.

Engraving Your Custom Framing Project

I’d like to introduce you to our new laser engraver,and show you how engraving and framing go hand in hand. You may be surprised at how well the 2 go together! We are now able to make your custom framing project even more personal.

Engraving on matboard introduces a whole new look to a custom framed piece. You can engrave names, dates, a saying, a poem…any thought you’d like to convey to the person looking at the art. It can be a wedding picture, graduation picture, vacation picture..formal portrait or candid..Let the people who see the picture know the thought behind it.
The mat can be engraved at a lower DPI to give the more subtle look, or a higher dpi to give it a crisp appearance in order to read smaller printing or see better at a distance.

You can also engrave a favorite quote, saying, or whatever you want on the frame, itself. There are several different types of frames that make a good palette for engraving. If you have a piece of art that is deeply personal, make the framing treatment just as personal by including engraving.

We can use the glass as a palette to draw or write additional information, names, dates, etc.  Often, a picture is taken that is nice, but nothing really points out that there is special significance to it. By engraving the glass with names and dates, everyone looking at it will understand that it wasn’t just any Fourth of July celebration. This one was special.

Even if your picture has been on the wall for a long time, it can still be personalized.  We can dismantle it, engrave what you want on the glass, and reassemble it. Have a picture you are always explaining? Let it explain itself!

Laser Engraving Added!!

We are growing! We have purchased a new Laser Engraver.   We will be offering a whole new line of personalized items.   Personalized glass ware seems to be the most popular now.   Beer glasses and wine glasses with your name and a favorite “thing”.   Any type of clip art can join your name on the glass to make it truly yours.

Trophies and awards are available,  as well as engraved plates, wood plaques,  rocks, pens, keyrings….this thing will engrave on almost anything!

We will also have the ability to engrave an actual photo onto metal or stone. The possibilities are endless, and limited only to onles imagination. As we move into the new aspect of our business, our web site, and logo will also change to reflect the engraving. More pictures of things we can do will follow.

Colors of Fall

As fall rolls around, and football is again in the air, it’s time to get the jersey out!   This year you should get some signatures on that jersey.   Then you will need to frame it to protect those signatures.   But how do you get the colors right?    What are the exact Vikings colors…or Gopher colors?   We have it covered.    Crescent, a mat supplier, has identified the correct colors for all the college, and pro teams.    Whether it’s hockey, football, basketball, or baseball, we can easily choose just the perfect team colors.    There are also accent mats with the look of a football, basketball, or golf ball skins.

I’ve been arrested! Don’t panic though, it’s only for an hour, and it won’t be solitary confinement.
I am participating in the March of Dimes Jail and Bail fundraiser. It will be on August 17th, and I will turn myself in at 10:30 to the local “jail” AKA The Smokin’Oak.

I do need your help though. I have to raise $1000 bail to get out! These tax deductable donations to the March of Dimes will be used to help babies.

Family Pictures.

As families grow, it’s nice to save a “picture in time” every so often. This is best accomplished by having a professional photographer plan a photo shoot. This is what a recent client of ours has done, and had several great family pictures printed and framed to decorate the house for graduation parties and summer picnics.  If you need a photographer, we happen to know one who is getting quite expirienced with family/wedding photo shoots!  Check out ColdAirPhotography  for some samples of Nick’s work.
We can frame these pictures in several different ways, making pictures that are a little the same look totally different. One of the most impressive ways is to use our line of mouldings that are ‘closed corner” and come to us already joined and the corners filled so they look like are one piece. The average width of these are 5 inches, so combined with a picture and matting, become quite impressive in size and grandeur. There are many different choices of size and levels of ornateness. Cost is comparable to a regular frame of the same stature.   In the future, you can have us replace the picture with the newest version!

Now that summer is finally here…(at least they tell me it is, you can’t prove it by the weather…), art fairs are planned for many communities. Framing for Children!

We have had a busy, exciting couple of weeks. Those of you that know us, know that 2 years ago, our daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren moved from MN to Utah. It was after that, that Backwoods was started. Well, things have come a full circle now, and the kids are home! They moved back to Hastings 2 weeks ago. And I finally get to play with my grandkids again! I also remember why you have kids when your younger than me!

The oldest, Kaia, is 6 and just finished kindergarten. When she saw what we were doing at the house, she asked her grandpa if he would frame one of her pictures. Of course, he said yes, and off they went to the garage. Using a small leftover piece of moulding, they created a frame the size of regular typing paper.

Off she went, to color the picture that would grace that frame. She returned with a finely colored butterfly picture, which we placed in the frame. It now has a place of honor next to our front door. When she tires of that picture, she can draw/color another, and replace that one, for a new look. She was soooo excited that her art was good enough to frame, and felt so special.

Wouldn’t your kids and grand kids feel the same? We can very inexpensively create a frame for the art you usually stick to the refrigerator.  Feel free to bring them along to help design their frame, by choosing their favorite color of mat and frame.  Make your little ones feel special…frame their art!

Fun Frames!

Do you know someone who has a theme room as their family or game room?  We have a line of fun frame
mouldings that can fit in with any game room theme.

For the motorcycle folks, who may have purchased prints at the Sturgis rally, or riding around the black
hills, we have mouldings with skull and bones, or lightening bolts, in several styles, colors and sizes.

For the card players, we have mouldings with the suits of a deck of cards…the clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades                                                                                                         are moulded into the frames. They come in either antique gold or silver.  Wouldn’t that card playing dog look greatin one of these?                                                                         There is also one with dice, or wine/martini glasses.

For the patriotic among us, we have the stars and stripes…proudly flying on a picture frame
moulding. It works great for those shadow boxes that celebrate a  military career.

Then, for the proud car owners, we have the “new car paint” mouldings, painted with actual
metal flake car paint in several different colors, one of which is sure to match that picture of their
favorite ride. We also have mouldings that have old cars molded into the frame. Super cool!

Music notes, Polynesian, beach, hierglyphics, whatever the theme is in the fun room, we can provide
